Mark Hamill On Guardians of the Galaxy 3 & Episode IX

This past February saw Mark Hamill and James Gunn have a Twitter conversation about meeting each other as the two both live in Malibu leading to speculation the Star Wars actor could appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

Now while appearing at the Saturn Awards, Mark Hamill is questioned how the meet-up went, with it sounding like Mark Hamill won’t be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

“Well, actually, Marilou and I had him down for a barbecue, and we didn’t talk about the movie. We talked about what? Living in Malibu, our relatives and pets. It never really came up,” Hamill said. “But that’s the way it should be. I don’t want to strong arm him any way. Because I love the movies and they’re fun, but I’m happy to be in the audience. There’s a lot less pressure. That’s why I liked Solo and Rogue One so much. There was 100%  less Hamill. I didn’t have any sort of anxiety. I could just be in the audience. It was great.”

Mark Hamill is also asked about filming Star Wars: Episode IX, which appears to be a touchy subject, as in the background of the video below you can see his publicist(?) shake her head and say (before Hamill has a chance to reply), “No, he doesn’t.”

“I don’t know,” Hamill said. “I’m the last to know. I like it that way. I like surprises, but when I know something, I’ll let you know.”

The latest on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is that James Gunn has handed in the script to Marvel, that it will film next year and be released in 2020. 

Star Wars: Episode IX has a December 20, 2019 release.
