Kevin Feige has announced the Loki Season 2 premiere date for the Disney+ streaming service which is a lot later than expected.

Tuesday at the Disney Upfronts, Feige announced Disney+ will launch Marvel’s Loki Season 2 on October 6.

It was originally thought Loki Season 2 would debut early in the Summer and then later in the Summer, but now that Disney is slowing things down with Marvel we see Loki Season 2 has been pushed back until the Fall.

It has also been announced episodes will be released weekly, while Kevin Feige also announced at the Upfronts that all the episodes of the Marvel Echo series will be released at the same time on Disney+, a first for the streaming service.

Tom Hiddleston stars in the series and is joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant.

Jonathan Majors is also said to be featured as Kang but with Majors currently in trouble with the law, the status of Majors’ future in the MCU is unknown. Interestingly enough, Deadline did not mention Majors’ name in their coverage about the Loki Season 2 premiere date announcement.

Loki Season 2

What is Loki about?

Loki is a television series created by Michael Waldron for the Disney+ streaming service. It is set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and serves as a continuation of the story of the character Loki, the God of Mischief, following the events of the film Avengers: Endgame.

In Loki season 1, the story revolves around the variant of Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) who escaped with the Tesseract during the time heist in Avengers: Endgame. Loki is captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA), an organization that monitors and maintains the flow of time across the multiverse. The TVA exists to ensure that the Sacred Timeline remains intact and that any deviations are pruned.

Loki is brought before the TVA’s agents, particularly Mobius M. Mobius (played by Owen Wilson). Mobius recruits Loki to help fix the timeline and capture a dangerous variant that has been causing chaos by altering historical events. This variant is revealed to be another version of Loki, known as “Sylvie” (played by Sophia Di Martino).

As the season progresses, Loki and Sylvie form an uneasy alliance while trying to uncover the true identity and motives of the powerful being behind the TVA, known as “He Who Remains” who is revealed to be Jonathan Majors as “Kang the Conqueror.” They navigate various timelines and encounter different challenges, all while exploring themes of identity, free will, and the nature of power.

Season 1 concludes with a climactic encounter between Loki, Sylvie, and He Who Remains, leading to a pivotal moment that sets the stage for future events in the MCU and the upcoming season 2 of Loki as the TVA has seemingly been recreated in the image of another Kang variant and Moebius doesn’t know who Loki is.

Owen Wilson is also rumored for Deadpool 3 as Moebius.
