Lex Luthor is coming to The CW’s Supergirl as the Superman villain will be introduced in Season 4 as a recurring character, with casting beginning soon.
“We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season,” said executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller in a statement. “We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since it’s inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor.”
As noted the sister of Lex Luthor already appears in the series with Katie McGrath playing Lena.
Supergirl also features Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, with it further said Lex Luthor won’t be appearing in the upcoming Arrowverse Elseworlds crossover that features both the characters.
The CW really seems to be building up their Superman universe as the Elseworlds crossover will also introduce Lois Lane, played by Elizabeth Tulloch.
Lex Luthor on TV was most recently played by Michael Rosenbaum on Smallville, with Jesse Eisenberg having played the character on the big screen.
This week also saw it revealed that Tyler Hoechlin will be wearing the black Superman suit:
