The DCEU just can’t catch a break as now Justice League co-director Joss Whedon is at the center of controversy.
I don’t know if the two are related, but it seems wherever the DCEU goes, some sort of controversy follows.
Joss Whedon’s ex-wife Kai Cole has taken to The Wrap to write a guest post blasting her husband of sixteen years for being a fake feminist and a hypocrite.
Kai Cole writes: “He used his relationship with me as a shield … so no one would question his relationships with other women or scrutinize his writing as anything other than feminist.”
Joss Whedon is known for writing female-centric characters, movies and series, and Whedon has long claimed to be a feminist often citing being brought up by his mother as a reason.
Kai Cole says, “I don’t think it is fair to me or other women to remain silent any longer,” and she writes Whedon had secret affairs, and also that Whedon admitted them to her.
“Joss admitted that for the next decade and a half, he hid multiple affairs and a number of inappropriate emotional ones that he had with his actresses, co-workers, fans and friends, while he stayed married to me,” Kai Cole adds.
Kai Cole continues with the mention that she was eventually diagnosed with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and is on her way to getting past Joss Whedon.
“Now that it is finally public, I want to let women know that he is not who he pretends to be. I want the people who worship him to know he is human, and the organizations giving him awards for his feminist work, to think twice in the future about honoring a man who does not practice what he preaches,” Cole states.
As a possible result of the Joss Whedon revelation, long time Joss Whedon fan site whedonesque.com is shutting down, and in its last post offers a farewell recommending fans to donate to PTSD.
This isn’t the first time Joss Whedon’s feminist claims have been questioned as previously on Twitter Whedon made fun of Nicole Kidman’s appearance and also compared Ivanka Trump with a dog, though Whedon said he was really tweeting about Donald Trump.
In addition to helping out with Justice League, Joss Whedon is also directing the Batgirl movie for the DCEU and is known for directing The Avengers movies for Marvel.
