JJ Abrams Reveals Kylo Ren Spoiler For Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The Dark Side… And The Light…

J.J. Abrams revealed a spoiler about a villain of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver.

The latest issue of Empire Magazine, out on Thursday, has a featured article on Star Wars with Abrams dropping a tidbit about why Kylo Ren is not titled “Darth.”

“Kylo Ren is not a Sith,” confirms JJ Abrams. “He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.”

Snoke is played by Andy Serkis using performance capture (see below) and can be heard as the voice-over in the trailers (watch below).

Abrams also offers the following about the origins of the First Order Stormtroopers:

“That all came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again?’” Abrams revealed. “What could be born of that? Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn’t get done?”

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has a December 18, 2015 release directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
