Jared Leto Asked Grant Morrison For Joker Advice

[page_title]

Yesterday saw Will Smith reveal Jared Leto stayed in character as the Joker for the six months of Suicide Squad filming, and now it’s learned Leto went to DC Comics writer Grant Morrison for advice.

In an interiew with Comic Heroes magazine, Morrison said Leto gave him a call about the Joker.

“It looks quite interesting.” Morrison said about Suicide Squad. “[Jared Leto] called me to talk about his approach to the character and I steered him in a few directions. I’m keen to see if anything other than slicked back hair and the Marilyn Manson vibe made it into his performance.”

Morrison also offered his take on the current superhero movies offering he would like to see them take more chances.

“I don’t think I’ve seen any great ones for a while. Age of Ultron was solid but naturally not quite the gamechanger the first Avengers was. We’re all familiar with the meat and potatoes superhero stuff, so I think it’s time they made Miracleman, Enigma, Flex Mentallo or something else that’s a bit more challenging.”

“Suicide Squad” has an August 5, 2016 release date directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.
