James Cameron Hopes For Avengers Fatigue

James Cameron previously blasted the Wonder Woman movie, and now he has a few choice words about Marvel’s Avengers.

While promoting his new docuseries “AMC Visionaries: James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction,” James Cameron offers up he hopes people get tired of the Avengers and Marvel movies.

“I’m hoping we’ll start getting ‘Avenger’ fatigue here pretty soon,” Cameron said (via IndieWire). “Not that I don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on guys, there are other stories to tell besides hyper-gonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process. It’s like, oy!”

James Cameron is known for movies such as Avatar, Terminator 2 and Aliens.

Regarding people getting tired of the Marvel movies, that doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon. The Avengers: Infinity War opens on Thursday, and by all indications, it might surpass that of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Marvel has The Avengers 4 coming out next year, so don’t hold your breath that anyone is getting fatigued by the Assemblers.

Regarding James Cameron on Wonder Woman, he stated he thought it was a step backwards.

“Yes, I’ll stand by that. I mean, she was Miss Israel, and she was wearing a kind of bustier costume that was very form-fitting. She’s absolutely drop-dead gorgeous,” Cameron said about Gal Gadot and Wonder Woman. “To me, that’s not breaking ground. They had Raquel Welch doing stuff like that in the ’60s. It was all in a context of talking about why Sarah Connor — what Linda created in 1991 — was, if not ahead of its time, at least a breakthrough in its time. I don’t think it was really ahead of its time because we’re still not [giving women these types of roles].”
