The start of The Avengers: Infinity War follows the post-credit scene from Thor: Ragnarok, which features Thanos’ ship attacking the Asgardians, as the Mad Titan is in search of the Space Stone held by Loki (the Tesseract).
As the movie starts, Thanos and his Black Order have already decimated the Asgardians and captured Thor; however, it seems as if all the Asgardians had perished in the battle except for Thor, Loki, the Hulk and Heimdall.
So what happened to the supporting characters of Thor: Ragnarok, Valkyrie and Korg? Good news if you are fans of the characters as the Russo brothers reveal they survived Thanos’ onslaught.
“There certainly were survivors,” The Russos explain to students at the Iowa City High School in a Q&A. “Thor does say to the Guardians that [Thanos] slaughtered half his people. Prior to the start of that scene, escape ships were deployed for Asgardians–including Valkyrie.”
The Russos were then asked by the students if Valkyrie lives, which saw them reply in the affirmative: “Yes.”
So what about Korg?
“You’ll have to wait to see,” the Russos replied. “[We] gave you Valkyrie [is alive]–it’s going to be all across the internet tomorrow because of City High.”
Admittedly, it would have been awesome to see the entire Thanos and the Black Order vs Asgardians battle go down, but maybe we’ll see both Korg and Valkyrie return for a fourth Thor movie? Or maybe even in a surprise appearance in Avengers 4?
