Henry Cavill recently joined the cast of the Justice League to promote the movie in both China and London, and now interviews with the Superman actor are hitting the net.
WSVN-TV in Miami spoke with Henry Cavill (watch below) and asked about the tone of Justice League, about Henry Cavill having to wear a mustache while filming, Henry Cavill posting that image last year on Instagram of what looks to be the black Superman suit, and about the return of Clark Kent.
Regarding the tone of Justice League, Henry Cavill offers:
The tone of this film is… I’m not going to say it is light because that would be doing it an injustice. It has a serious scenario with moments of humor and lightness peppered throughout, which as much as people say isn’t close to reality, as much as it does have senses of not being like reality, when people are in bad situations gallows humor does come into effect. I know a lot of guys in the armed forces, and a lot of them have a really bizarre sense of humor, and it gets you through. We have those in this movie.
It’s been reported that for Justice League reshoots that Henry Cavill sported a mustache due to being contractually obligated to have a mustache for Mission Impossible 6. The facial hair will then be removed during post-production digitally for the Justice League movie. Henry Cavill couldn’t say much about doing the Justice League reshoots, but joked about the Superman mustache:
I can’t really talk about that for fear of [makes hand gesture]. There were moments when I was suited, booted and mustache’iod, yes.
When I looked into the mirror I also had my mustache waxed up to keep it off my lips, and I had dots all over my face. That was definitely a funny looking Superman.
Last year on Instagram saw Henry Cavill seemingly tease the black Superman costume (see below), Henry Cavill plays coy:
I can’t talk about that. That’s exactly how it appears [big smile]. I mean, it appears to be a black suit, right. It’s very difficult to take a picture of your own ‘S.’ I may have been [wearing the black suit].
Not only did Batman vs. Superman see the death of Superman, but also Clark Kent. So with Superman returning in Justice League, what about Clark?
Clark Kent. Have you read the [DC Comics] Rebirth comics? The Rebirth comics, there is a very different style of Clark Kent and Superman. He actually has a son as well, with Lois, and they live in a different place, and it is a very different lifestyle and relationship going on there. So there is an opportunity for that, and there are so many different opportunities there as well where we can express and play with what and who Clark is.
Justice League has a November 17, 2017 release directed by Zack Snyder, with the story by Chris Terrio and Zack Snyder, the screenplay by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, and stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe an Atlantean, Nuidis Vulko.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
