Green Lantern Never Coming To Arrow

It’s now become perfectly clear that Green Lantern will not be on Arrow, or from the sounds of things, on any DC TV show.

CBR caught up with executive producer Wendy Mericle who stated the following:

…Green Lantern, who obviously we could never bring on the show.

Her response was due to questioning in regards to Arrow‘s Coast City reporter Susan Williams, known for being a character in the DC Green Lantern comics. Here’s the full quote:

“One of the fun parts of the show is that you can put these characters in and the Easter eggs and the fans that know this universe so well respond to it on varying levels of excitement and whatnot, but the thing about her character that’s so intriguing is that it operates on that level. It also operates because she’s someone who’s very intrigued by Oliver, who’s going to uncover some secrets that Oliver has, which is going to be really fun, and is a fun nod to the Green Lantern, who obviously we could never bring on the show.”

The news of no Green Lantern is a definite bummer, which is more than likely due to the upcoming Green Lantern Corps movie, which is due out in 2020 and reboots the character.

It did seems as if Green Lantern was at one time planned for Arrow and the CW DC universe as various episodes contained Green Lantern Easter Eggs and Hal Jordan was even teased. Likewise, Stephen Amell even hinted or said he wanted Green Lantern a couple of times. I was even told by a DC source that plans were underway for a Flash and Green Lantern crossover, and Marc Guggenheim confirmed talks of Green Lantern a while back.

As noted in the article, while Green Lantern won’t be appearing any time soon, the upcoming Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends Of Tomorrow crossover will be an interstellar war as the DC TV superheroes are set to take on the Dominators from the DC Comics Invasion! graphic novel.
