Marvel TV released a batch of first look preview images for their upcoming event series on Netflix, Defenders.
The Defenders images feature Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock aka Daredevil; Mike Colter as Luke Cage; Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones; Finn Jones as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist, and a first look at Sigourney Weaver's Alexandra (more details here).
"Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York,” explains showrunner Marco Ramirez to EW.com. “We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you?'”
The article notes head of Marvel TV came up with the idea of Defenders after having watch The Avengers movie for the fifth time.
“The Defenders didn’t have a ‘D’ on their belt buckles and a Defenders Tower,” Loeb says. “We agreed from the very beginning that these folks could at the very end go, ‘I never want to see your face again.'”
Defenders will premiere on Netflix in 2017 with eight episodes.
