The Doctor Strange Friday box office numbers are in which sees the film speculated for an $80 million+ opening weekend.
Doctor Strange brought in $32.6 million on Friday, which includes the Thursday night advance screenings ($9.4 million).
The number puts Doctor Strange ahead of Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, which went on to make $85.7 million in its own opening weekend.
Doctor Strange currently has a worldwide gross of $165,459,000.
Over at Rotten Tomatoes, Doctor Strange is sitting rather nicely with a 90% positive rating among the critics. Now that the movie has been released, the audience score actually went up a point in the past couple of days to 91% favorable.
For an origin story, I think it’s one of Marvel’s better films and beats out Captain America: The First Avenger as well as Thor.
