DC Comics Suspends Editor Over Sexual Harassment

DC Comics Suspends Top Editor Over Sexual Harassment

DC Comics has finally taken action for claims of sexual harassment against editor Eddie Berganza.

Following an article published by Buzz Feed on Friday, DC Comics has now suspended Eddie Berganza.

Eddie Berganza, a writer and editor on DC’s top characters including Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman, has actually been accused of sexual harassment in the industry for years, but DC never really did anything about it until now, which follows all the accusations currently rocking Hollywood.

Eddie Berganza is claimed to have cornered one particular woman, stuck his tongue in her mouth, and attempted to grope her (among other things).

It’s further reported that the women who reported the incidents to DC’s human resources department all no longer work with the company.

“We all left, and he’s still there,” said Janelle Asselin, a former DC editor who spearheaded the multi-employee HR complaint against Berganza in 2010. “That, to me, tells me what DC Comics’ priority is.”

DC released the following statement announcing the suspension:

DC Entertainment has immediately suspended Mr. Berganza and has removed him from performing his duties as Group Editor at DC Comics. There will be a prompt and yet careful review into next steps as it relates to the allegations against him, and the concerns our talent, employees and fans have shared. DC continues to be extremely committed to creating a safe and secure working environment for our employees and everyone involved in the creation of our comic books.
