Disney has announced that the D23 Expo has been postponed until 2022, which is similar to the recently canceled Star Wars Celebration.
“We are excited to announce that the next D23 Expo will be held September 9-11, 2022 at the Anaheim Convention Center,” Disney D23 said in a statement released on social media. “D23 Expo 2022 will be a celebration unlike any other, as we give fans a first look at the incredible plans for the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company.”

Fans not happy
Disney also recently announced Star Wars Celebration will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on August 18-21, 2022, so that means D23 Expo would happen a month later, assuming that date for the Star Wars Celebration sticks.
Fans aren’t too happy with the news that the release dates for Star Wars Celebration and the Disney D23 Expo are so close as it will put a big strain on their wallets.
“So, does this mean Celebration is going to be moved? Or will it continue to be two weeks before this? (I’m local so I could potentially go to both but for people who like both & have to travel from far away this could be an issue… ),” tweeted a fan.
“Yeah, this is going to be devastating to my budget. And coming from out of town, it’s just long enough after to mess with travel. Oooof,” said another.
“So two weeks or so after Star Wars Celebration?” questioned a fan.
“Why do this, essentially, on top of Celebration? A little space would have been nice for people who wanted to attend both and who don’t live in southern California,” said another.
Disney does have Destination D scheduled for next year (November 20–22) in Orlando which is probably why the D23 Expo got moved to 2022 instead of 2021.
