No War Machine Easter Egg In Doctor Strange Says Scott Derrickson

Spoilers follow for the Doctor Strange movie.

In our list of over 25 Doctor Strange Easter Eggs it’s been speculated that one Easter Egg refers to James Rhodes and War Machine, who suffered a back injury during Captain America: Civil War.

Mentioned in Doctor Strange was that a 35-year-old Army colonel broke his back wearing experimental armor.

While this does sound like Rhodey, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickon stated it isn’t a War Machine Easter Egg; in addition, Don Cheadle is 51-years-old, so we can speculate James Rhodes is older (of course he could be playing a 35-year-old).

Scott Derrickson was asked during a recent Reddit AMA about the possible Doctor Strange War Machine Easter Egg in which he replied, “It’s not.”

Another theory being put out by fans is that the army colonel in Doctor Strange is the guy Hammer tech was experimenting with in Iron Man 2

“Doctor Strange” is now in theaters directed by Scott Derrickson starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen.
