Good news for fans of Constantine as yesterday’s episode saw a rise in ratings.
NBC released official stats stating Constantine had its most watched episode last night since the November 21st episode featuring Jim Corrigan and the Spectre.
Though Constantine saw a drop in ratings with last week’s episode, which was the first episode to debut at 8pm ET, yesterday’s rose by around 400,000 viewers.
Last night’s Constantine delivered 3.48 million viewers with a .9 rating, which is up from last week’s 3.06 million and .8 rating.
In addition, NBC announced that Constantine sees a substantial rise in viewers when 7-Day DVR/online-viewing is factored in as viewership rises by more than 1.8 million viewers overall from 3.4 million to 5.3 million.
NBC also stated the coveted 18-49 ratings demographic among advertisers has increased by 79% when time-shifting is factored in.
The bad news is that the long-term DVR/online viewing doesn’t seem to be a big factor with networks as the higher live-viewing numbers are more preferable because of the advertisements. Recently, NBC executives stated Constantine has a big viewership after it airs, but it’s live-viewing “is challenging,” when questioned about a potential for Season 2.
There may be some light at the end of the tunnel, though, as showrunner Daniel Cerone recently hinted Constantine could possibly move to another network. Cerone also tweeted he would like to do more episodes of Constantine, with specific mention of the Monkey King, who was named in last night’s episode. Cerone also added if they do get a Season 2, he would like William Shatner to appear in an episode.
Speaking of William Shatner, it’s also learned that the first Captain Kirk is a fan of Constantine, as Shatner live-tweeted last night’s episode, as did Cerone.
Constantine airs Fridays at 8pm ET on NBC starring Matt Ryan, Charles Halford, Angelica Celaya and Harold Perrineau.
