August x, 2016 – Captain America is coming home to a heroic welcome with a statue dedication ceremony in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park on Wednesday, August 10th. Since his creation in 1941 by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, Captain America has gone through numerous evolutions, but always remains as one of the world’s most influential and inspiring Super Heroes. Following its debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego and a cross-country journey, the 13 foot tall, 1-ton Captain America tribute will arrive to Brooklyn, NY – the hometown of Steve Rogers – for a two week engagement in Prospect Park, kicking off with the August 10th dedication ceremony and community event.

The dedication ceremony will be hosted by Lorraine Cink, actor and host of THWIP! The Big Marvel Show and The Marvel Minute, with special guests including Marvel Comics’ Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, the New York City Joint Service Color, and the creative team who designed the statue including sculptor Dave Cortes. Following the dedication ceremony, Marvel and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media will host a free community event open to the public featuring Captain American inspired activities, snacks, photo locations, and more.
