Captain America: Civil War seemingly saw Captain America no more as Steve Rogers battled Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Iron Man over disagreement about the Sokovia Accords.
Up next for Cap is battling Thanos in The Avengers: Infinity War movies with a lot of fans speculating Captain America might don the Nomad mantle.
Both Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan, the Winter Soldier, have been getting in on the fun as Chris Evans has been signing autographs as “Nomad.”
Now The Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo weighs in on Chris Evans playing Nomand.
“Our approach to [Steve Rogers] was to deconstruct him, to take him in a different direction,” Joe Russo told ESPN. “Obviously you can’t deal with a character called Captain America without dealing with the thematics behind that, so we wanted a relevancy to it and we wanted to put him in a position where he was questioning the chain of command.”
Russo continues with confirmation that Captain America isn’t exactly Nomad in The Avengers: Infinity War.
“You’ll see in these Avengers films, he’s on a very specific journey as a character. Some people have suspected that he may be Nomad heading into Avengers 3, and I wouldn’t say that he is exactly Nomad, but he is the spirit of that character.”
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
