Avengers 4 Title Teased Then Deleted By Russo Bros

Following what went down in Infinity War with the Great Titan Thanos killing off half the universe and the Marvel superheroes, a big mystery and question on everybody’s mind is what is the official Avengers 4 title?

While I have it on good word the title is Avengers: End Game (which seemingly got confirmed by an MCU cinematographer), the Russo brothers have teased – and then deleted – an Avengers 4 title “reveal” on Instagram.

“A4 title reveal,” the Russo brothers Instagram posted along with an image featuring the text: “Infinity Mirrored Room: Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity.”

While obviously it’s not the Avengers 4 title, and it’s a reference to Thanos killing off half the universe and obliterating “eternity” (plus Marvel COSMIC fans will get the Eternity tease), “Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity” is actually am Infinity Mirrored Room painting from Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama created in 2009.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston explains the Infinity Mirror Room, which is created by the artist’s paintings:

Expanding upon her lifelong obsession with the dissolution of the self into the infinite, Yayoi Kusama created “Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity” the year of her 80th birthday. Viewers are invited to step into the room and stand on the central platform. Over time a delicate, shimmering mirage unfolds, as an array of lights ignites and is mirrored on every surface of the all-encompassing environment. In less than a minute, however, all light disappears, and then the cycle starts anew. Kusama explains: “Life is what I always try to understand—its depths and its mystique of rise and fall. I struggle for it throughout my life. From day to day, I understand the greatness brought by this mystique as well as that love is eternal and keeps appearing and disappearing. And what is more, I am very pleased to be alive after realizing that I have overcome this everyday life and been able to reach today. Yet we keep flashing, disappearing, and again blossoming out in this Eternity.”

Check it out in action, and we’ll talk about the Avengers 4 title below:

Avengers 4 Title

Regarding the Avengers 4 title, while I was told it is Avengers: End Game, it’s possible that Marvel Studios may have ditched the name because of the leak. I was told the info prior to the release of Infinity War, and then Doctor Strange name-dropped it in the movie, and in addition, a soundtrack for the film is titled “End Game.”

Fun fact: Jim Starlin’s epic Infinity Crusade also name drops “End Game,” so it’s possible that is where the Russo brothers came up with the title. Infinity War is obviously the second part of Starlin’s epic saga, and at one time Zoe Saldana accidentally let it slip that the Avengers 4 title was Infinity Gauntlet, the title of Starlin’s first book. As a result of Zoe Saldana slipping the title, it’s also been said Marvel Studios will not be using Infinity Gauntlet for the Avengers 4 title as well.

Some fans have guessed the Avengers 4 title to be “Avengers Forever,” which the Russo brothers said is pretty close, with some fan now guessing “Avengers Eternity” due to the tease above.

When Marvel Studios will release the official Avengers 4 title remains to be seen, but Kevin Feige did say closer to the release of Captain Marvel, which comes out March 8, 2019.

Any guesses?
