Alan Ritchson Blasts MCU: ‘I Sit Back And Yawn At Marvel’

Summary

  • Actor Alan Ritchson has no intention of playing a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) anytime soon
  • He has expressed interest in playing Batman in the DC universe and has been vocal about his dislike for the repetitive nature of Marvel movies
  • Ritchson is using his new found leverage to create new and compelling stories

Reacher actor Alan Ritchson blasts Marvel and has no intention of playing a character in the MCU anytime soon.

While Ritchson recently said he wouldn’t mind tackling DC’s Batman – and while the actor looks more like the Hulk – Marvel definitely isn’t happening.

Speaking with GQ, the 41-year-old actor went so far as to say the Marvel movies are boring and are the same thing over and over.

“Like everybody else, I sit back and yawn at Marvel movies regurgitating comic book stories that we’ve seen a thousand times because they’re the only way studios feel like they can make money,” he told GQ. “I want to be a solution; I want to do something about it.”

Ritchson added, “So I’m using every bit of leverage that I have to create new, compelling stories. That’s my mission.”

Would play Batman

While Ritchson didn’t have nice things to say about Marvel, his Batman comments are the opposite.

“With all the rumors flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman,” he said in an interview back in December.

Ritchson added when it was remarked Reacher is Batman without a cape: “You know, [Batman without a cape] is a great analogy, actually. But I mean, Batman has got like a cave, and Reacher doesn’t even have a house. He’s got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler.”

Alan Ritchson also recently admitted to testosterone use to get him jacked for Reacher Season 2, and he is starring with Henry Cavill in this week’s release of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
