Actor Henry Golding takes to social media to reveal a first look at the Snake Eyes movie, a G.I. Joe spinoff, which started filming in January.
“Because it’s my birthday today and I’m playing Snake Eyes… Here’s your first look,” Golding posted on Instagram Tuesday.
The image reveals Golding as the titular character walking up the steps of a temple in Japan where we see the character is presently minus his iconic mask, but we do see a sword at his side.
In G.I. Joe movie lore, Snake Eyes is an abandoned 10-year-old orphan child who found his way to the home of Arashikage Clan where he battled the young Thomas Arashikage (Storm Shadow) who attacked him for stealing food. Snake Eyes would go on to train with the Arashikage Clan and surpass Storm Shadow leading to a bitter and blood “brotherly” feud.
Snake Eyes gets released October 23, 2020 directed by Robert Schwentke who has said the film will have a big Japanese influence; also starring includes Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Iko Uwais (The Raid movies), Andrew Koji (Cinemax’s Warrior), Úrsula Corberó (Netflix’s Money Heist), Haruka Abe (47 Ronin), and Takehiro Hira (Girl/Haji).
Henry Golding is known for Crazy Rich Asians, A Simple Favor, Monsoon, Last Christmas and The Gentleman.
