Disney Pixar has announced their next movie with Onward, which is set to star Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Octavia Spence as the lead voice cast.
The film has a March 6, 2020 release directed by Monster University‘s Dan Scanlon and the plot centers on two teenage elf brothers who embark on a quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there.
Onward was first teased at last year’s Disney’s D23 convention.
“At Pixar we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth,” Scanlon said. “This film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother.”
Scanlon also said the plot of Onward is inspired by the story of his childhood and how his father died when he was young and that he always wanted to find out about him. This movie, he said at the time, is “a mix of the fantastic and the everyday,” with “elves, sprites and pretty much anything that would be on the side of a van in the ’70s.”
