David Harbour previously spoke about Milla Jovovich as the villain.

“She’s super bad-ass! I watched some of her coverage, and I was like, “Damn, you know how to work a camera!” Harbour told Collider. “There are people that understand the camera, and I’m not one of them. Man, she would do certain things, and I would just be riveted and like, ‘Wow, you are so sexy and exciting and powerful and crazy! I don’t know how to do that. That’s amazing!’”

Ian McShane also previously teases the relationship with his and Harbour’s character.

“You don’t start with the birth of Hellboy… but the relationship between [Hellboy and Broom] is quite crusty. Does he trust his father? [Hellboy asks], ‘Why didn’t you kill me? I’m a monster.’ It’s a little bit of a psychological battle against Hellboy,” McShane said. There’s one important moment in [the film] when [Hellboy] sort of thinks he’s fighting his own people, the outsiders. So, he’s being used by the insiders, which is me, if you like.”
