X-Men: Dark Phoenix Gets Major Reshoots

X-Men: Dark Phoenix Gets Major Reshoots

Fox Studios recently announced delayed release dates for both X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants.

In the case of New Mutants, the film is getting massive reshoots, said to be upwards of 50% of the footage.

While it was reported the reason for the X-Men: Dark Phoenix release date getting pushed back was because of the A-list actors’ schedules for the reshoots, THR expands on the reasoning.

It’s said X-Men: Dark Phoenix will undergo major reshoots as writer and director Simon Kinberg tweaks the script.

According to the report, it’s not all as bad as it may sound as the movie was in post-production and actually came in under budget, but it’s said Simon Kinberg will be reworking the film’s third act.

Reportedly, the reshoots will cost under $10 million and take place in the late summer/early fall.

It’s further noted the new February release date for X-Men: Dark Phoenix now gives it less competition, and the February 14, 2019 release date saw huge success for both Black Panther and Deadpool.

X-Men Dark Phoenix is set roughly 10 years after X-Men: Apocalypse where the X-Men are now known as nationally celebrated heroes, but the fame gets to Professor X’s head, which leads the X-Men into a cosmic adventure. X-Men: Dark Phoenix is directed by Simon Kinberg starring James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), and Evan Peters (Quicksilver), with Lamar Johnson and Jessica Chastain in unknown roles.
