Black Panther also continues outpacing The Avengers and even Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
For its second weekend, Black Panther brought in an estimated $108 million, which gives it the second best box office for the second week of opening (#1 is Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $149m).
This week will also see Black Panther move to at least the #3 best MCU movie as it will easily pass Captain America: Civil War ($408m) and Iron Man 3 ($409m); The Avengers: Age Of Ultron stands at $459m, with The Avengers at $623m.
Black Panther also has the best opening weekend in February, the best single day Monday gross, the best 4-day President’s Day holiday weekend, the third fastest to $400 million, and also by the end of the week Black Panther will be the top superhero origin movie.
A quick check of Rotten Tomatoes reveals it has a 97% favorable rating (326 positive reviews to 11 negative), with its audience rating coming in lower at 78% having stated they liked it.
The 78% seems to align with my thoughts as I felt Black Panther was just an okay movie.
