Update #2: Wonder Woman holding strong at 94% with 119 Fresh and 7 Rotten.
Update: Wonder Woman is now at 95% with 93 positive and only 5 negative.
Original article:
Wonder Woman is currently crushing it at Rotten Tomatoes with a 97% favorable “Fresh” score amongst critics!
Presently, 63 reviews are in with the Patty Jenkins-directed movie only having 2 negative scores! That means 61 positive!
If the number holds up or even drops by 10-20 points, what a turn that is for the DCEU!
Man of Steel sits at 55%, Batman v. Superman at a mere 28%, and Suicide Squad has a paltry 25%!
For a comparison, the highest rated Marvel movie is the first Iron Man movie at 94% and then The Avengers at 92%.
We can now further speculate that Wonder Woman will have a higher than anticipated opening, as some estimates were in the low range of $55 million. It’s possible Wonder Woman could go on to open to $100 million-plus and possibly even score upwards of a $750 million box office draw, which would be pretty incredible for the movie.
I pegged Wonder Woman‘s box office along the lines of Captain America or Thor, with $500 million or so. I believe Wonder Woman is the first DCEU movie with Geoff Johns fully involved, so it looks to be paying off. Hopefully the trend continues with Justice League and Aquaman.
Good news!
