Ben Affleck has revealed that he recently completed treatment for alcohol addition.
“I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront,” Affleck posted on Facebook.
Affleck continued with mention of focusing on his family. It’s recently been reported that Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner are attempting to work things out after having announced a split back in 2015.
“I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.” Affleck said in the post. “I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”
The news of Ben Affleck’s treatment follows his latest movie, Live By Night, performing poorly and also of Affleck stepping down as the director on Batman.
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Ben Affleck said in a statement at the time he announced leaving the Batman movie’s director’s chair. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Matt Reeves has since been named as the new director on Batman, with as noted, Affleck staying on in the starring role.
Ben Affleck’s next movie is Justice League, out November 17th.
