Say what you will about Suicide Squad, but there is no denying the movie has legs as it has now passed Marvel’s Iron Man at the box office.

Suicide Squad now has a U.S. gross of $318,584,857, beating Iron Man‘s $318,412,101, and now has its sights set on not only Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy ($333.1m) but Batman Vs. Superman ($330.3m) as well.

Iron Man is long considered the go-to superhero movie, so it’s quite a feat that Suicide Squad has passed it as the film scored negative reviews amongst the critics. Just think how well Suicide Squad would have done if it had more of the Jared Leto Joker and a bit of a better ending. In addition, Suicide Squad was banned in China, missing out on the #2 worldwide box office demographic.

Including Iron Man, Suicide Squad has now passed over a half a dozen Marvel Studios movies including: Iron Man 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, Thor, Ant-Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Incredible Hulk.

Suicide Squad also beats out a long list of other Marvel movies at other studios including all the X-Men and Wolverine movies and Amazing Spider-Man films.

Suicide Squad has a current worldwide gross of $731,584,857 (numbers via box office mojo).

It looks as if the only place for the DCEU to go is up as Wonder Woman and Justice League are up next.

“Suicide Squad” is directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.

Synopsis:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Supervillains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
