Henry Cavill Joins Game of Thrones? Leak Reveals A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Casting

A clip from New York Comic-Con is making the rounds online, and fans think it may have revealed a major casting addition for Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

During a panel appearance back in October, stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell appeared to accidentally reference Henry Cavill, and now speculation is running wild that Cavill has been cast as Daemon Blackfyre in upcoming flashbacks.

Henry Cavill As Daemon Blackfyre?

The resurfaced video shows Peter Claffey, who plays Ser Duncan the Tall, asking what appears to be a PR rep if he can speak freely. She tells him it’s fine as long as no spoilers are revealed.

Claffey then compares his character to Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher, clearly referencing Cavill’s time in the role.

That’s when Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg, chimes in and starts to say: “Can we say Henry Cavill…”

Claffey immediately cuts him off.

“No, no, no — God don’t say that… Sorry… You didn’t hear that,” he said.

As a result of the exchange, fans now believe Ansell may have been about to confirm Cavill’s involvement in Season 2 — potentially as Daemon Blackfyre, the legendary Targaryen figure tied to the Blackfyre Rebellions.

Who Is Daemon Blackfyre?

Daemon Blackfyre is one of the most important figures in Targaryen history. The legitimized bastard of King Aegon IV, Daemon went on to found House Blackfyre and launch a rebellion against the Targaryen throne.

The character looms large over the events of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is set decades after the first Blackfyre Rebellion but heavily influenced by its aftermath.

Season 2 is expected to dive deeper into that history through flashbacks — making Daemon Blackfyre a prime candidate to appear on screen.

Casting someone like Cavill would be a massive get for HBO and Warner Bros., especially given his popularity with fantasy fans.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Expands the Game of Thrones Universe

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas and is set roughly a century before the events of Game of Thrones.

The series stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, the future King Aegon V Targaryen.

The show serves as a smaller-scale, character-driven companion to HBO’s House of the Dragon and the original Game of Thrones.

If Cavill is indeed stepping into the role of Daemon Blackfyre, it would mark another major fantasy franchise addition for the former Superman star.
