Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Framework Spinoff Talked About

This past season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD happened to be the best one yet as it not only featured Ghost Rider, but also introduced us to the Matrix-like “What If?” world of the Framework featuring an alternate reality ruled by Hydra.

So will we ever see the Framework again?

The Framework has actually been discussed as a potential Agents of SHIELD spinoff amongst the series executives; however, before you get your hopes up, it seems to be more or less just talk.

I do suppose that at least the execs recognize the Framework has been popular amongst the fans, so the Framework definitely can’t rule out returning in some form to Agents of SHIELD. I also happened to be a big fan of the actress who played Aida, Mallory Jansen, so hopefully she returns in some form as well.

Via EW:

Have we seen the last of the Framework on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? — Wallace
Probably. “Everything we do is based on not wanting to repeat our selves,” EP Jeff Bell says. “We’re trying to tell different kinds of stories and show our characters in different situations. The last thing we want is for people to say, ‘Oh, they’re trotting that thing out again.’ If there were a way to tell a fresh story with something else to say, I think all storytelling is on the table.” However, some on Team S.H.I.E.L.D. think the Framework deserves more love. “The Framework opened up a lot of ideas and a lot of possibilities, and our head of post keeps reminding us of that, because he’s the biggest fan of the Framework, and he thinks it should be its own spinoff show,” EP Jed Whedon says.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will return with Season 5 some time in the late Fall/Winter as Marvel’s Inhumans airs starting in September.
