Press Release

KRIS LONGO JOINS BONFIRE AGENCY
AS VP, ADVERTISING SALES & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

(January 9, 2012–New York, NY) – Kris Longo, formerly the Manager of Advertising and Custom Publishing at DC Comics, joins Bonfire Agency as Vice-President, Advertising Sales & Business Development, it was announced today by Steve Rotterdam, Partner & Co-Founder of Bonfire.

In this newly created position, Longo will, among other responsibilities, run ComicsUnited, Bonfire’s integrated media advertising network comprised of the nation’s leading independent comic book publishers.

Created by Bonfire in early 2011 at the behest of publishers including Dynamite, IDW, Boom! Studios and Top Cow Entertainment, ComicsUnited provides advertisers and promotional partners with meaningful ways in which to engage comics fans and consumers of comic culture. “Brands want so much to establish and deepen connections with these incredibly passionate, highly influential consumers in ways that won’t backfire on them,” said Rotterdam. “Having an innovative sales leader who keenly understands this consumer, as well as the dynamics of this quadrant of the media landscape is essential. I worked very closely with Kris during my tenure at DC and saw first-hand how he was able to consistently make these meaningful connections. We couldn’t be more excited to have him heat things up on behalf our clients and partners.”

While at DC Comics, Longo successfully developed award-winning, measurably effective, integrated advertising and custom publishing programs for a diversity of top brands, most of which were non-endemic to the comics medium.  These included SUBWAY, LEGO OF AMERICA, COLGATE MAX FRESH and IFC NETWORK.

Before joining DC Comics, Longo served in Account Management roles at Dugan/Farley Communications and CPR Communications.

Longo will be based in Bonfire’s New York office.
