We learn that – just maybe – Ma Kent will alter Clark’s Superman costume for Batman Vs. Superman.
The costume designer for Man of Steel is back for Batman Vs. Superman and while talking about his latest film, American Hustle, offers tidbits about the next Zack Snyder superhero movie.
Talking with CineMovie.TV, Michael Wilkinson lets it be known he is responsible for Ben Affleck’s new Batman costume, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman costume, and that Henry Cavill’s Superman costume will undergo changes.
He’s tasked with designing a whole new Batsuit for Ben Affleck, the new crusader taking over the role from Christian Bale, and a new look for Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot. He tells us that he’s also “tweaking” the Superman outfit.
“We are now in the stage where we’re refining our designs with the last series of camera tests and doing our final tweaks in preparation for shooting.”
Wilkinson adds that he pinches himself daily when he comes to work on Batman vs Superman because he feels honored and “tremendously excited” to be involved with a project whose iconic “characters will be seen for the next generation of filmmakers.”
It’s unknown what the Superman tweaks will be, but in the comic books Clark’s Earth mom designed the costume. In Man of Steel, Clark found the costume in the Fortress Of Solitude (a Kyrptonian spaceship). Maybe the tweaks on the costume will be to make it look less alien? Or possibly just more comfortable for Cavill.
“Batman Vs Superman” has a July 17, 2015 release starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane and Gal Gadot.
