Doctor Who Peter Capaldi Coming To NYCC 2016

Doctor Who is coming to the New York Comic-Con next month.

The BBC has announced Peter Capaldi will be making his first appearance at the NYCC along with new companion, Pearl Mackie. Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat (Sherlock) and executive producer Brian Minchin will also be a part of the panel that takes place on Friday, October 7th.

In addition to Doctor Who, the Doctor Who spin-off, Class, will be featured in a panel with stars Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah, as well as writer and creator Patrick Ness and executive producer Brian Minchin (Doctor Who, Torchwood) in attendance. Class is described as: Coal Hill School has been a part of the Doctor Who universe since the very beginning, but that has come at a price. Time travelling over the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin. There’s something pressing in on the other side, something waiting for its chance to kill everyone and everything, to bring us all into Shadow.

The NYCC will also feature the the world premiere screening and Q&A for the BBC America’s next original series, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, ahead of its broadcast premiere on October 22nd. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is an adaptation of the wildly popular novels by Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Doctor Who). The series is described as: Corpses – cops – trap – cult – assassins – Pararibulitis – vampires – lottery ticket – kitten – corgi – EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED! Welcome to the world of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency; a trippy mystery that thrusts a reluctant sidekick into the bizarre world of an unconventional detective who believes in the interconnectedness of all things.  When washed-up rocker Todd Brotzman (Elijah Wood) stumbles upon the murder scene of a millionaire, all hell breaks loose. Eccentric detective, Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett), wholly believes they’re destined to untangle the peculiar events surrounding the mystery together, whether Todd likes it or not! A collection of wild and dangerous characters’ further infiltrate and complicate their world, each episode landing them a few random steps closer to uncovering the truth. 

Writer and executive producer Max Landis (ChronicleAmerican Ultra) and showrunner Robert Cooper (Stargate AtlantisStargate Universe) will join stars Samuel Barnett (Penny Dreadful), Hannah Marks (The Amazing Spiderman), Jade Eshete (Dead Beat), Mpho Koaho (Falling Skies) and Fiona Dourif (Manhattan) for a panel following the exclusive sneak peek screening.
