With foreign audiences – and especially China – being an ever growing market for movie studios, it’s being reported Chinese action star Donnie Yen will be featured in Star Wars.
The report comes from Hong Kong’s Apple Daily that is stating Donnie Yen has signed on for Star Wars: Epiode VIII and will be going to London next month to start filming.
According to the site, Donnie Yen will play a Jedi and will be featured onscreen with Harrison Ford (who is yet to be confirmed for Star Wars: Episode VIII).
It’s also said other actors that were up for Yen’s role included Jet Li, Stephen Chow, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Daniel Wu, Wang Leehom and Chang Chen.
It’s unclear how legit the rumor is as the Apple Daily is a Hong Kong gossip site.
Star Wars: Episode VIII has a May 26, 2017 release directed by Rian Johnson.
Yen is known for IP Man, Blade II and Highlander: Endgame.
