Doctor Who: BBC Announces Jodie Whittaker Final Episode

The BBC has announced Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall’s final Doctor Who episode will air next Fall, in 2022.  

The official BBC Doctor Who Twitter account tweeted Jodie Whittaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall’s final episode will air as part of the BBC Centenary celebrations.

“As part of the BBC Centenary celebrations, Jodie Whittaker’s final episode playing the Thirteenth Doctor is set to air next autumn,” states the network. “Having been in charge of the TARDIS since filming began in 2017, Showrunner Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker are set to leave the most famous police box on Earth – and the Universe.”

The BBC continues, “Having faced many perilous journeys battling some of the most feared monsters throughout space and time, it’s the final installment for the Thirteenth Doctor. This epic blockbuster special will see the Doctor fight evil across the galaxy one last time but just who will she come up against in her final battle before the Doctor regenerates once more… “

Russell T Davies returning to Doctor Who 

In September, the BBC announced that Russell T Davies will be returning to Doctor Who for the show’s 60th anniversary in 2023.

“As the 13th Doctor prepares to embark on new and extraordinary adventures, the winds of change are blowing… bringing with them news to delight Doctor Who fans across the globe,” said Piers Wenger, BBC Director of Drama. “We are thrilled that Russell is returning to Doctor Who to build on the huge achievements of Chris and Jodie. Thank you to the two of them and the team in Cardiff for all they continue to do for the show and hello Russell, it’s wonderful to have you back.”
