Neve Campbell Playing Polaris In X-Men’97

Neve Campbell Playing Polaris In X-Men’97

Wild rumors are running rampant online that Scream star Neve Campbell is playing Polaris in Marvel’s X-Men.

However, what was not initially being said is what project.

Following the rumor that 51-year-old Neve Campbell would be playing Polaris, who is the daughter of Magneto, sites and fans have been running with it that Neve Campbell is playing Polaris in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, which is now filming.

It actually sort of lines up as it has been announced Ian McKellen is returning as Magneto who happens to be 85-years old. So in the grand scheme of things having a 50-year-old daughter would make sense.

Is Neve Campbell really playing Polaris?

The only thing is that apparently Neve Campbell is VOICING Polaris in the X-Men ’97 animated series. If legit, that would mean Campbell is replacing voice actress Terri Hawkes, who voiced Polaris in two episodes of the original X-Men animated series.

Update: Following claims Neve Campbell has been actually cast in the MCU, former X-Men ’97 Showrunner Beau DeMayo confirmed the casting is for Season 2:

Incorrect. I cast her as Polaris in Season 2 of #xmen97. She does amazing work bringing something new, and felt right to have a 90s icon pick up where Lorna’s story was left in “Cold Comfort.” She’s got some thoughts on Genosha.

Who is Polaris?

Polaris, also known as Lorna Dane, is a mutant in the Marvel Universe and the daughter of Magneto. She possesses the power to manipulate magnetism, much like her father, which makes her one of the most powerful mutants. First appearing in X-Men comics in 1968, Polaris has been a long-time member of various X-teams, including X-Factor and the main X-Men roster. She’s known for her green hair, complex relationship with Magneto, and her role in key mutant storylines.

What’s next for X-Men ’97?

X-Men ’97 Season 2 and 3 are in the works. The seasons are getting retooled following the exit of showrunner Beau DeMayo after Season 1.

No release date has been announced yet for Disney+. X-Men’97 Season 2 is expected in 2026.

“Season 2 of X-Men ‘97 is going to be in ‘26. We’re working on it now. It’s exciting,” Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel TV and animation said a couple of months ago. “That world of the ‘90s is just… Honestly… I can’t believe they let me make it. I grew up at Marvel, as you know, clocked a lot of time here, and I feel like I used a lot of currency to revive this thing that I loved watching after school. So, the fact that we get to play in that universe with those actors is honestly why I went into this business in the first place.”
