White House Posts Trump As The Mandalorian With Grogu For Star Wars Day

The White House celebrated Star Wars Day by posting an image of President Donald Trump as The Mandalorian, complete with Grogu, armor, an American flag, and a snow-covered backdrop.

The official White House X account posted the image on May 4 with the caption: “In a galaxy that demands strength – America stands ready. This is the way. May the 4th be with you.”

Trump Gets The Mandalorian Treatment

The image shows Trump in Mandalorian-style armor holding the American flag, with Grogu tucked at his side. The Mandalorian helmet also appears in the image.

The post plays off two of Star Wars’ biggest catchphrases: “This is the way” from The Mandalorian and “May the 4th be with you,” the fan-created phrase used every year for Star Wars Day.

The post quickly made the rounds online, with outlets noting the image appears to be digitally altered or AI-generated.

White House Continues Pop Culture Push

This isn’t the first time the official White House X account has used movies, superheroes, or pop culture in its messaging.

Back on July 10th, the same day James Gunn’s Superman opened in theaters, the White House posted a Trump Superman poster. The image used the Superman-style tagline: “The symbol of hope. Truth. Justice. The American Way. Superman Trump.”

Star Wars Fans React

As expected, the Star Wars Day post sparked a mix of reactions. Some fans mocked the image, while others leaned into it and shared their own memes.

The New York Post described the meme as a lighter Star Wars Day post compared to the previous year, when Trump was shown wielding a red lightsaber.

Disney’s Big Star Wars Push Continues

The post also lands as Disney and Lucasfilm are promoting The Mandalorian and Grogu, the upcoming Star Wars movie starring Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and Grogu that gets released May 22nd.

Disney marked May the 4th by releasing new spots for the film, with tickets now on sale.
