Amandla Stenberg Is Back: Children of Blood and Bone Debuts First Footage, and Instagram Return

Known for Disney’s Star Wars The Acolyte series, Amandla Stenberg’s latest project was shown off at CinemaCon, and the actress has made a return to Instagram.

At Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation on Thursday, the studio unveiled the first footage from Children of Blood and Bone, the big-screen adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling fantasy novel.

First Children of Blood and Bone footage debuts at CinemaCon

Gina Prince-Bythewood took the CinemaCon stage with stars Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Regina King to introduce the movie.

The story is set in the fantasy kingdom of Orïsha and follows a young woman on a mission to restore magic stolen from her people. Along the way, she teams with her brother and the children of the king as they push back against a brutal regime.

The footage preview also gave fans a taste of the tone Paramount is going for. Viola Davis is heard saying, “They don’t hate you. They hate what you are meant to become,” while Stenberg’s character warns, “Your life is in danger — you and your people.”

Later, Damson Idris gets a romantic beat with the line, “You have unraveled me.”

Prince-Bythewood called it an honor to bring the best-selling book to the screen, while the cast leaned into the scale and significance of the project.

Chiwetel Ejiofor told the crowd, “Movies like this don’t come around often,” and Regina Hall said Black girls deserve to see themselves in “worlds of wonder, power and imagination.”

Amandla Stenberg’s Instagram is back

The other interesting piece here is Stenberg’s Instagram return.

Back in November, it was noticed her Instagram had been deleted, which sparked plenty of discussion online. Now the official account is live again.

As of Thursday, the page is active and shows one video post from August 2025 (above), with the rest of the feed wiped clean.

She’s also been active on Tumblr.
