A Battlefield movie is now in the works, with Christopher McQuarrie attached to write, direct, and produce a feature adaptation of the Electronic Arts video game franchise.
Michael B. Jordan is also attached to produce and could star in the movie, depending on how the project comes together.
The package is currently being shopped around Hollywood, and it already has studio interest.

Christopher McQuarrie Attached To Battlefield Movie
According to THR, McQuarrie is attached to write, direct, and produce Battlefield, based on EA’s long-running military shooter franchise.
McQuarrie is best known for his work on the Mission: Impossible movies with Tom Cruise, including Fallout, Dead Reckoning, and The Final Reckoning. He also won an Oscar for writing The Usual Suspects.
That makes Battlefield a big swing, especially since the franchise is built around large-scale war, military action, vehicles, destruction, and global conflict.
EA is also attached as a producer on the movie.

Michael B. Jordan Could Star
Michael B. Jordan is attached to produce the Battlefield movie and could also star, though THR notes that depends on several factors.
Jordan has been busy both in front of and behind the camera, including the Creed franchise and his work with his Outlier Society production company.
If Jordan does end up starring, Battlefield would give the project a major name to help sell the movie as more than just another video game adaptation.

Studios And Streamers Are Already Interested
The Battlefield movie package is now being taken out to studios.
THR reports that McQuarrie and others pitched studios and streamers including Apple and Sony on Thursday, with more meetings taking place Friday.
The people involved are said to be prioritizing a theatrical release, which could affect which buyers make the strongest push. THR adds that it is unclear if Netflix will be part of the meetings.
Video Game Movies Continue To Heat Up
The Battlefield news also comes as Hollywood continues to push harder into video game adaptations.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Sonic the Hedgehog, Fallout, The Last of Us, and Minecraft have all helped fuel studio interest in gaming IP.
Battlefield could be one of the next big attempts to turn a major game franchise into a theatrical event.
