Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest Revealed At CinemaCon

Warner Bros. revealed Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest as the working title for its new Game of Thrones movie during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas.

The title appeared as part of Warner Bros.’ “2027 and beyond” slate, and reports note it is only a working title for now, so it could still change.

Game of Thrones movie gets official working title

The CinemaCon reveal marks the latest step forward for the long-rumored feature project, which had previously been reported as a theatrical take on Aegon I Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros.

Warner Bros. did not roll out a full presentation for the film, but including it in the “2027 and beyond” slate is a clear sign the project remains in active and early development.

What Aegon’s Conquest is about

As previously reported, the movie centers on Aegon I Targaryen and his campaign to conquer Westeros alongside his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys.

The story takes place roughly 300 years before Game of Thrones and covers one of the biggest events in the franchise timeline, as Aegon unifies the Seven Kingdoms and establishes Targaryen rule. Beau Willimon is attached to write the script.

First Game of Thrones movie for theaters

The project has been described as a large-scale theatrical event, with earlier reporting comparing the approach to Dune in terms of size and ambition.

That would make Aegon’s Conquest the first major Game of Thrones feature film for theaters after the franchise spent years dominating television through Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
