Amazon MGM Studios has officially released a first-look image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft to mark the start of production on the new Tomb Raider live-action series.
“Get your artifacts out. She’s on her way.”
That’s how Amazon announced the start of filming on Thursday, January 15, unveiling Sophie Turner in full Lara Croft gear, including dual thigh holsters, fingerless gloves, tactical harness, and signature red-tinted glasses.
Production Officially Underway
The live-action Tomb Raider series is now filming under the creative leadership of Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), who serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge.
Jonathan Van Tulleken is directing and executive producing.
Full Cast Revealed
Joining Turner in the series are Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis and Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay, both major new characters.
The supporting cast also includes Martin Bobb-Semple (Zip), Jack Bannon (Gerry), John Heffernan (David), Bill Paterson (Winston), Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie (Francine), and August Wittgenstein.
Legacy of Lara
The new Prime Video series is based on the long-running Tomb Raider video game franchise, which has followed Lara Croft across multiple reboots and generations. This marks the character’s return to live-action since the 2018 film reboot starring Alicia Vikander.
Netflix recently concluded its own animated take, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, with Hayley Atwell voicing the character.
The live-action series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, Story Kitchen, Legendary Television, and Wells Street Films.
