Paramount Cancels Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora Animated Series

Paramount has canceled both the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series and the current Dora the Explorer revival as the company restructures following the Paramount-Skydance merger.

TMNT Ends Next Month With Season 2

The InSneider first reported that Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will wrap up with Season 2. Paramount confirmed the news, adding that the final season drops on Paramount+ in December before heading to Nicktoons next year.

This is the end of the current animated Turtles run on Nickelodeon, though the brand isn’t going away. Paramount still plans to keep TMNT active across films, licensing, and new projects down the line.

Dora Revival Also Shuts Down

Deadline reports that Dora will end after the upcoming Season 4, which does not yet have a streaming premiere date. A fifth season has already been produced but its release plan is unclear. Like TMNT, the show will also get a post-streaming run on Nick Jr.

Paramount is now pushing third-party licensing for both series, something the company has been doing heavily in recent years as Nickelodeon titles continue landing on platforms like Netflix.

Paramount Restructuring Behind the Decision

The cancellations follow major internal changes as Paramount merges with Skydance and folds all linear networks — including Nickelodeon — into a single TV Media division led by George Cheeks.

In a recent memo, Cheeks said the networks will focus on a smaller slate that supports top priority franchises. SpongeBob SquarePants and PAW Patrol were cited, while Dora and TMNT were not included. Both brands may return in new forms later, but their current runs are finished.
