Pixar has released the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5, and the studio isn’t holding back: “The age of toys is over…?”
The short teaser featuring the music by INXS with “Never Tear Us Apart” introduces the movie’s newest and biggest threat to playtime — and it’s not Lotso, Zurg, or Sunnyside this time.
Pixar also released the first poster. Watch the trailer below.

Meet Lilypad: The High-Tech Frog Tablet Taking Over Bonnie’s Room
The trailer gives fans their first look at Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee (Past Lives, The Morning Show, TRON: Ares). Lilypad is likely packed with apps, animations, games, and possibly even AI-style features that immediately overshadow Bonnie’s classic toys.
Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the gang instantly recognize the problem. They can’t compete with a device that can talk, sing, project videos, and basically babysit Bonnie 24/7.
Lilypad represents the movie’s “Toys Meet Tech” theme — and based on the footage, she’s way more than just a threat. She’s a full-blown rival who thinks toys are obsolete.
Returning Cast
The teaser confirms the big three are back:
- Tom Hanks as Woody
- Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear
- Joan Cusack as Jessie
Pixar also spotlights newcomer Conan O’Brien, who voices Smarty Pants, a toilet-training tech toy who adds even more chaos to Bonnie’s room.
O’Brien’s character was first revealed at D23, and the teaser gives a quick glimpse at his talking screen and bizarre, overly cheerful personality.
Behind the Scenes
Toy Story 5 is loaded with major Pixar talent:
- Director: Andrew Stanton (WALL·E, Finding Nemo, Finding Dory)
- Co-director: Kenna Harris (Ciao Alberto)
- Producer: Lindsey Collins (Turning Red, WALL·E, Finding Dory)
Stanton returning alone is enough to get longtime fans hyped, and the teaser immediately feels like a return to classic Pixar energy.
