Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans have more to celebrate. After a strong box office run for the 35th anniversary of the original film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze is set to return to theaters in March 2026. Fathom Entertainment, Saga Arts, and Warner Bros. announced the sequel’s re-release following the success of the anniversary engagement.
Box Office Momentum Extends Anniversary Run
The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, which came back to theaters on August 15, has earned $3.3 million in its opening week. That strong showing has made it Fathom’s highest-grossing repertory title of 2025. Due to fan demand, the anniversary event has been extended again, now running through August 28 in select theaters.
Audiences are also getting access to “Turtles Unmasked,” an exclusive featurette with never-before-seen footage, extended scenes, behind-the-scenes material, and commentary from director Steve Barron.
Promo Spot Teases the Sequel’s Return
A new promo spot (watch below) has been released to celebrate the fan response and to confirm that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze will hit theaters again in March 2026. The sequel originally premiered in 1991 and continues the story of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael as they face Shredder, who now wields the power of the mutagen ooze. New villains Tokka and Rahzar also join the fight.
A Chance for New and Old Fans
The theatrical anniversary run has given longtime fans the chance to see the original movie again on the big screen and introduce it to a new generation. The 1990 live-action film, based on the comics by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, became a surprise hit at the time, topping the box office for four straight weeks and becoming one of the most successful independent films ever released.
