Disney’s Door-Opening Statement
In a joint announcement, Disney and Lucasfilm said they had “reached an agreement” with Carano and added:
“With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”
That’s a major shift from the studio’s 2021 position, when Lucasfilm said Carano was “not currently employed” and there were “no plans for her to be in the future.”
The Projects in Question
Deadline pointed out the possibility that Carano could return in the upcoming Mandalorian movie, or even in “already promised” roles in other Star Wars series and films.
One of those could be Rangers of the New Republic, the spinoff series announced in 2020 but quietly scrapped after Carano’s firing. If Disney is serious about working with her again, the project could be revived either in its original form or as part of another Star Wars title.
