Blackest Night #6 is due out on Dec. 30. However, issues are being leaked from comic book stores all over America, as are spoilers.
So as an early Christmas present, Cosmic Book News is presenting Blackest Night #6 spoilers and we are doing this in the tradition of the three Wise Men.
*SPOILER WARNINGS*
WISE MAN ONE – BARRY ALLEN, THE FLASH: So when we last left off in Blackest Night #5, Superman and several other super heroes were under the influence of the Black Lantern rings.
The possessed Black Lanterns invite the Barry Allen Flash and the Hal Jordan Green Lantern to return to “the Land of the Dead.” Of course, the Black Lantern rings chase down Allen and Jordan. This forces Allen, with Jordan in tow, to fast forward into the future two seconds disconnecting their link to the pursuing Black Rings.
WISE MAN TWO – RAY PALMER, THE ATOM: Picking up from the back up story of Green Lantern #49, Ray Palmer, the Atom and Mera, Aquaman’s wife, are on the run with Palmer’s Black Ring possessed wife. Deadman Boston Brand is following them, and rescues them.
Deadman explains to Mera and Atom that every Black Lantern in the Universe is headed to Earth, which leads to a splash page with Green Lantern John Stewart being pursued by millions of Black Lanterns (again picking up from Green Lantern #49).
At which time, Palmer and Mera jump out of the possessed Wonder Woman’s Black Ring. Now picking up from Blackest Night #5, the combined forces of Hal Jordan Green Lantern; Sinestro, the Yellow Lantern; Red Lantern Atrocitus; Saint Walker Blue Lantern; Larfleeze, the Orange Lantern; and Carol Ferris, the Star Sapphire Purple Lantern, along with the compassion themed Indigo Lantern, Indigo-1, are not having much luck against the Black Lanterns.
Indigo-1, in turn, says it is time to channel the “Light of Life” which will beat back the death.
WISE MAN THREE – GANTHET, THE GUARDIAN: At this time, Ganthet, former Green Lantern Guardian and now Blue Lantern Guardian, decides he needs to “step up to the plate” and becomes a Lantern.
In the past, Jordan’s Green Lantern ring always had the ability to duplicate itself, and it does so now, giving it to Ganthet, who becomes a Green Lantern.
Ganthet also explains how each of the colored rings are based on Oan technology, and since he is Oan and powerful, he explains that due to a loophole in the “Blackest Night” Prophecy, the rings can duplicate itself and create 24-hour deputies.
At which time, and which can be seen in the picture, Lex Luther becomes the greed inspired Orange Lantern; Mera becomes a rage-centered Red Lantern; a black ring possessed Wonder Woman is restored to being a love based Star Sapphire; Batman villain, the Scarecrow, becomes a the fear based Yellow Lantern; Ray Palmer becomes an Indigo Lantern; and in the center is a hope-filled Blue Lantern Flash.
And that is how the issue ends.
