Thanks to rumors, the villain of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu may have leaked.
Who is the villain?
According to the Kristian Harloff YouTube channel, the villain of The Mandalorian & Grogu is none other than Embo.
Who is Embo?
The official StarWars.com databank describes Embo as the following:
A fearsome bounty hunter of few words, Embo was quick to disable his target, be it by a single trained shot from his bowcaster or a decisive blow from his pan-shaped hat, which could be hurled at an adversary with deadly accuracy. The hat also doubled as a shield when the Kyuzo directly charged his target head-first. A freelance hunter, Embo worked with the likes of Sugi and Boba Fett, loyal only to his faithful anooba, Marrok.
The character first appeared in Dave Filoni’s Clone Wars animated series in the “Bounty Hunters” episode back in 2010 featuring four bounty hunters. They confront Anakin, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan but a village elder talks them down.
What are The Mandalorian & Grogu details for Embo?
The YouTuber says Dave Filoni will return to voice Embo in The Mandalorian & Grogu and that Embo is basically the big bad in the story.
It’s claimed that Embo and Mando are both going after Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hut. It’s said Embo is trying to kill him, while Mando is trying to rescue him. It was previously announced Jeremy Allen White is voicing Rotta the Hutt.
How it might connect
We can guess Rotta the Hutt is likely being hunted which has to do with the power struggle on Tatooine. The last we heard of Jabba the Hutt was in The Book of Boba Fett where it was learned that following the death of Jabba in Return of the Jedi, it had left a power vacuum on Tatooine. The series saw two of Jabba’s cousins make a play for power, but they were defeated by Boba Fett and Fennec Shand. Boba Fett then ascended to power and took Jabba’s place as the crime lord of Tatooine.
In the Clone Wars the animated series where Rotta the Hutt first appears, Rota is heir to the Hutt empire, but he was only an infant at the time. However, his young age didn’t stop his power-hungry great-uncle Ziro marking him for death. Ziro arranged for Rotta to be Huttnapped as part of an elaborate scheme to discredit the Jedi Knights and prevent them from entering an alliance with the Hutts.
So it seems as if someone hires Embo to kill Rotta the Hutt, while someone else, for some reason, hires Mando to save Embo. It has also been said Temuera Morrison is not in The Mandalorian & Grogu, so just how much connects to The Book of Boba Fett remains to be seen.
