In a shocker, a week prior to the big premiere on Disney+, it’s learned the producer and writer behind the highly anticipated X-Men ’97 animated series, Beau DeMayo, has been fired and has exited Disney and Marvel.

It’s reported Beau DeMayo had been busy working at Marvel as he had completed writing a second season of X-Men ’97 and had ideas for a Season 3.

THR even says Beau DeMayo had been lining up press, and making plans to attend X-Men ‘97’s Hollywood premiere, tomorrow, on March 13, which he will no longer attend.

Why was Beau DeMayo fired?

The site says that early last week is when DeMayo parted ways with Marvel and that his company e-mail has been deactivated and cast and crew were informed he was no longer on the project.

Beau DeMayo has also deleted his Instagram account, where the writer/producer was promoting the series with art and answering fan questions.

THR says that no reason has been given for the firing, and Deadline adds a reason for his departure is not clear and that Marvel has no comment.

DeMayo also wrote on Moon Knight for Marvel and early drafts of the upcoming Blade movie.

The X-Men ’97 animated series is due to be released on Disney+ on March 20. DeMayo had been with Marvel since getting hired in November of 2021.
