AMC has released new images for the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead that tease the fate of Carl.
The images are featured in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which follow The Walking Dead‘s mid-season finale where it was revealed Carl was bitten by a Walker.
The first images tease a bombed-out Alexandria in tatters and Carl clinging to life.
The second image is described as: Carl’s revelation that he was bitten by a walker signals his impending demise, which will play out in the next episode.
The third image offers actor Chandler Riggs reflecting on the series: “He’s definitely leaving behind a really long-lasting legacy,” says Riggs, “which was the coolest part about playing those final moments — knowing that Carl was going to have such a lasting impact on the story.”
The fourth image of Carl: But with flashbacks flash-forwards, dreams, and visions always a future possibility, is it ever really goodbye on this show?

The Walking Dead returns Sunday, Feb. 25 on AMC at 9pm EST.
