It’s learned two Batman villains almost made it into Batman Vs. Superman.

Director Zack Snyder spoke with Collider and said he talked with Chris Terrio about adding in Joker and Riddler; however, they ended up deciding against it to focus on Batman and Superman, but it’s noted their presence is felt in the movie.

The Joker and The Riddler both came close to being in this movie. We talked about the possibility of putting them in. [Screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict.

We can see the Joker’s presence is felt through the Robin costume in the Batcave, and it’s thought the Riddler’s question mark is featured in the old Wayne Mansion.

The Joker will be seen this August in the Suicide Squad movie, played by Jared Leto; Ben Affleck’s Batman is scheduled to appear in Suicide Squad as well.

Jim Carrey played Riddler in 1995’s Batman Forever, with Cory Michael Smith currently playing Edward Nygma on the Gotham TV series.

Any ideas who could play Riddler in the Justice League universe? WB once wanted Leonardo DiCaprio for the role during the Nolan Trilogy, and it was also said Justin Timberlake was circling the role for Batman vs. Superman.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
